Brownell Vent Breathers

Our Vent Dryers offer an ideal solution for safeguarding moisture-sensitive fluids, such as transformer oils or brake fluid. Easily attachable to a tank or drum's breather port, these dryers efficiently extract and expel water vapor as air passes through the desiccant, ensuring the integrity of your fluids.

Brownell Datasheet

Our Industrial Vent Breathers are infused with silica gel that transitions from orange to green, indicating its absorption of water vapor. These breathers are designed to safeguard your storage tanks and drums during operation. Both the standard and heavy-duty breathers come equipped with filters to further reduce the risk of particulate contamination entering your equipment.

Brownell Industrial Vent Breathers

These vent breathers have been specifically crafted to fit directly onto 205-litre drums as well as other 1000-litre reservoirs.

Available in two sizes, the standard duty and heavy duty, both filled with a colour-changing Envirogel desiccant. They are fully reusable as the desiccant can be replace when the colour change has been completed.

Model Link Desiccant Capacity Adsorption Capacity Air Drying Capacity Mounting Thread
Standard Duty 0.6kg 90 grams 6 cubic meters 3/4" BSPT
Heavy Duty 1.2kg 180 grams 12 cubic meters 3/4" BSPT

The Envirogel Desiccant represents the latest advancement in indicating silica gel. It displays orange when active, and once it changes to green, the desiccant is saturated and ready to be replaced.

All refills have a shelf life of 12 months when stored in temperate conditions.

Envirogel Desiccant

These Desiccant Silica Gel Beads have a high dust attrition resistance and are uniform in size, reducing gas flow minimising any pressure drops. The Vent Breathers are filled with this new desiccant, when the colour change takes place and has reached the indication level, the desiccant should be replaced.

How the Vent Breathers Work

Hygroscopic fluids, when exposed to normal atmospheric humidity, can absorb water vapor, leading to potential damage due to physical and chemical changes in the fluid. Our breathers can be installed directly by connecting to an existing breather or vent pipe. When the breather becomes saturated with water vapor, the desiccant changes from orange to green. A full color change indicates that it's time to replace the desiccant.
