Product Details

The FA-ST marine oil analysis kit stands as the optimal solution for examining various types of oil used on board. This versatile, all-encompassing kit is suitable for analysing marine engines, hydraulic systems, winches, gearboxes, thrusts, or any system utilising oil. Our independent ISO accredited laboratory conducts the following standard tests on all oil samples:

  • Full spectrographic analysis for evaluating potential wear metals, monitoring levels, and ensuring oil additive levels are maintained. It also detects contaminants like Boron, Sodium, and Silicon that may have entered the system.
  • Total ferrous debris is to monitor magnetic wear particles irrespective of size.
  • Oil viscosity at 40 °C assessment to ensure the oil meets lubrication and heat transfer requirements crucial for engine performance.
  • Karl fisher water test is to detect any water that may have entered the engine.

Trust in our marine oil analysis kit to provide comprehensive insights into the condition of your onboard oils, enabling proactive maintenance and ensuring optimal performance.

Depending on the application of the oil a range of other tests will be carried out relevant to the system.

  • Hydraulic Oils- Will also have an ISO 4406 Cleanliness code determined ensuring the oil is clean and prevent additional abrasive wear occurring to components.
  • Engine Oils- Will have the Soot to monitor any issues during the combustion process leading to soot build up. Sulphation to detect the build up of sulphur based acids. Oxidation to monitor the oxidation level of the oil as this can lead to increases in the oil viscosity. Nitration in industrial oil samples is an indication of a thermal breakdown of the oil. Fuel Vol on any engine samples where the viscosity is low then a fuel dilution test will be carried out.
